The foundational course is much more comprehensive and up to date than Greyscale Gorilla's which is all the way back on R14. It's created largely by EJ from eyedesyn and is top quality. Each episode takes around two hours to complete, so the game does not outstay its welcome, which is just as well as there is a distinct lack of variety in the gameplay. The main game is split into six episodes, with an an additional two: The Signal and The Writer to be played upon completion. Anyway, you must battle against the encroaching darkness armed with a torch, some flares and a trusty sidearm, as you search for your wife through the howling wilderness. Unfortunately, the game is full of the usual Hollywood tropes about life in such places, but I digress. Haven't tried with patches, probably the game wouldn't crash, so I would give 4 stars without the crashes and would give 5 starts if they'd include the American Nightmare episode because that is also very awesome and it's a sad thing they couldn't include that to make this package complete with everything Alan Wake.Ĭan't wait for Alan Wake 2, I hope it will come in a better shape (highly doubt it)Ĭlearly inspired by the works of Stephen King (he's even name-checked at one point) Alan Wake is a game about a horror writer, suffering from writer's block, who gets caught up in his own story when his wife goes missing on holiday in backwoods America. Sadly today it's pretty accepted by careless players who don't care and they just wait for patches. How about fully test a product, and once it's been fully developed, burn the game and then release and maybe iron out small tiny issues with patches, but I can't believe during test, they didn't encounter with the constant crashes. It's pathetic and ridiculous they burn a half baked game on disc and then expect people to download 30gb updates. Both main game and DLCs are fine apart from the constant crashes. Luckily the crashes not too annoying (apart from distracting during gameplay) since the game saves after every 4-5 mins, so even if the game crashes player will not lose too much progress. Game runs and plays brilliant and apart from having crashes pretty much every 30 mins, it ran well and didn't experience any other bugs or issues and managed to beat the game fully. I didn't bother to download anything, so played the game off the disc. Absolutely ridiculous, you basically have to redownload the whole game if you want the patches. So I was a fan of Alan Wake since the 360 game and I was super excited to have Alan Wake and the 2 DLCs finally on a physical disc, however, the game installs 28gb from the disc and would download 29gb updates.
